Protect the Unique Folk Culture of the Silk City

Ganjam district has a unique identity of folk and culture and it should be protected for the next generation.


To protect the unique folk culture of the silk city for the posterity, an Odisha-based media house has come forth to record the rich heritage and lifestyle in a documentary.

The initiative is being taken by Sampark Mass Media and a mahurat ceremony was held on Saturday at Thakurani temple.

While attending the ceremony, Berhampur MLA RCC Patnaik said, “Berhampur is soon going to become a metro city with various developmental projects being implemented. So, we should have a record of its past and present.”

Retd. Deputy Director of Culture Department Krushna Chandra Nisanko who also attended the ceremony stated, “Ganjam district has a unique identity of folk and culture and it should be protected for the next generation. Technology can be used to record our rich culture, so that we can show it to our coming generation.”

BJP district President Kanhu Charan Pati, Local Corporator Jyoti Subudhi, Founder of Sampark Mass Media Sanat Panda and CEO of Digital Communication were also present at the ceremony.
